26/06/03 09:00 Meeting with Dr.Lossus, but since Norman has got a high fever the Dr. said he sohuld get to the ER, he got to the ER but only by 20:30 Norman finnaly got into the deptarment of Oncology.
Norman can't start the treatment until the fever gets down, the treatment is supposed to start on Wednesday 02/07/03 at 08:00.
24/06/03 20:00 Norman got to the ER after complaining of pain in his leg, we got this advice from Dr.Lossus after we spoke with him on the phone.
The doctor was thinking of something but it appears it was a false alarm.
They gave him a bigger dosage of steroides.
There is a meeting with Dr. Lossus on thursday at 9:00, then we will know when the radiotherapy will start (hopefully).
22/06/03 After talking to Dr. Rosenthal - Neurosurgeon today 22/06/03, he said the board came to a conclusion that the tumor is to deep too be taken out with regular surgery, since this might cause paralysis on the left side.
The board suggested Norman to do radiotherapy.
Then we spoke at 16:30 with Dr. Losus - NeuroOncology and gave us this information:
What Norman will be going thru is a radiotherapy (almost for sure) this is a therapy with low radiation but for a long period of time, each day for a month (except Shabbat).
In Israel there is no Gamma Knife procedure, but there is a Radio surgery procedure that is called LINAC which is similar to the Gamma Knife procedure. Dr.Losus and Dr.Rosenthal told us that the only difference in the LINAC and Gamma Knife procedures are the instruments used, within one or two days we will know if the Radio Surgery procedure can be done since the tumor is big, this procedure can be done only in Tel-Hashomer Hospital.
Now about the Gliadel procedure, this procedure has not yet been proven that it is effective, there are some good results with it, but not yet been proven. This procedure is in a way similar to the surgical procedure since he will need an operation, and this might cause paralysis on left side. This procedure can only be done in Ichilov Hospital.
